Rasayana is dedicated to relationship-centered care, empowering clients through self-discipline and experiential learning - as it was done Guru to student over 5,000 years ago.  Kris honors the wisdom of Ayurveda by preserving natural resources and when possible, uses organic herbs that are sustainably grown and fairly traded, so treatments are safe, effective, and healing for both our bodies and the planet.

Five Words That Describe Me:

Things I Love

  • Empowering my clients with knowledge and witnessing the 'a-ha' moments.

  • The Ocean.  As a kid I grew up on the beaches of NH and Maine, always delighting in sandy toes and salty kisses. Swimming, surfing, boogie-boarding, exploring tidal pools, or just passing out in the sand with the sound of surf & seagulls always provides me rejuvenation.

  • Libraries.  I'm a serious geek and certifiable bookworm.  My library card is one of my most valuable possessions and I enjoy reading text on paper over a Kindle anyday. Follow me on GoodReads.com

  • Dancing! Music and movement are near and dear to me. I'm a competitive ballroom dancer in my free time and my favorite dance right now is the cha cha.

  • My passport.  Expeditions and adventures keep me exploring new boundaries and feeling alive. Plus, I just LOVE exchanging values, traditions, and beliefs from other cultures. Next stop? Bali.

  • Getting creative.  I'm a life-long learner and support the arts, so you'll often find me dancing in the grocery isle, playing my violin, or cooking my way thru a new cookbook with panache. Some of my greatest solutions to problems come from this creative space!

In 2007, Kris graduated from the Cortiva Muscular Therapy Institute and became a licensed massage therapist. She continued her training at the Kripalu Yoga Center in Lenox, MA with Hilary Garivaltis, D.Ay, where she became certified in several traditional Ayurvedic treatments.  Since then she has run a successful full time massage therapy practice in popular Davis Square in Somerville, MA.  Her treatment approach is interactive and goal-oriented, with a dash of tough love when necessary.

In 2009 she advanced her studies at Dr. Partap Chauhan's  Jiva Institute for Vedic Studies in Haryana, India, under the direction of  head physician, Dr. Kuldeep Solanski, BAMS with a focus on Ayurvedic theory, pancha karma therapies, and the creation of select medicinal herbal thailams.  In June 2015 she completed her Level 1 Ayurvedic Health Counselor certification (650-hr) at Kripalu School of Ayurveda, and is now offering diet and lifestyle consultations and treatment plans to further support client's needs.  She is a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) , a Continuing Education Provider for the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA), and former contributing writer for the Herbal Academy of New England.  She's also a faculty member at the New School of Yogic Arts, bringing Ayurveda training to professional yoga teacher trainees and her original workshops on repetitive strain injuries and Intro to Ayurveda courses have been taught in Boston area yoga studios and at the renowned Omega Institute for Holistic Living in Rhinebeck, NY.  Additionally, she is a 500-hour certified Kripalu Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist and O2 Yoga instructor, studying the Astanga yoga method with Elliot McEldowney and Ayurvedic Yoga with Yoganand Michael Carroll and Advanced Pranayama techniques with Larissa Hall-Carlson.
